Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0246423A2] A connection of highly wear-resistant plates, especially ceramic plates, to a beam to be protected from wear is known, a material being embedded between two soldering foils and a firm connection between the ceramic plate and the support being produced by heating the soldering foils and the material. A further improvement of this firm connection of ceramic mouldings to metals is achieved according to the invention by the fact that the material used is one which accommodates thermal expansion, is elastic and is refractory and that the thermal connection of the ceramic moulding to the metal and/or metallic support is effected by casting molten metal around the moulding. A metal-ceramic connection of this kind is distinguished in particular by the fact that it can be exposed to high alternating thermal stresses without impairment of stability. <IMAGE>
