Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0248199A2] Multilayer lining elements - in particular inside roof linings for motor vehicles - must on the one hand be adequately formable, in order to achieve adaptation to the roof shape, and on the other hand a certain mechanical stability must be maintained here. The known inside roof linings therefore have a multiplicity of layers with a middle substrate layer of expanded plastic. To achieve the mechanical stability, on both sides of the substrate layer there are provided - along with other layers - glass mat layers with a rough surface. The novel lining element uses instead of the glass mat a smooth film of acrylonitrile-butadiene styrene (thermoplastic). This makes it possible to construct an inside roof lining with a smaller number of layers and with less expenditure, while maintaining optimum deformability. The substrate layer of expanded plastic can in this case be foamed directly onto the films of acrylonitrile-butadiene styrene on both sides. <IMAGE>
