Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0248375A1] 1. A method of dispensing labels (1b) from a label strip (1) which comprises a carrier strip (1a) and adhesive labels adhering to it, in which the carrier strip (1a), coming from a delivery roll (2) and passing to a device (8) for winding up the carrier strip, is looped around a label detaching edge (6) and the label (1b) is transferred to a label transfer element (9), e.g. a moving suction head, which transfers the detached label (1b) to the goods (12) to be labelled, with the following steps : a) in a first partial feeding movement (Fig. 4B) of a new label (1b) towards the label transfer element (9) the carrier strip (1a) is immobilised at a position after the label detaching edge (6) and the latter is moved in the label feeding direction by a linear drive (10) ; b) then in a second partial feeding movement (Fig. 4C) the label (1b) is positioned precisely in front of the label transfer element (9) by a rotating drive (7) located at a position after the label detaching edge (6) ; c) after precise positioning has been achieved, the label strip (1) is immobilised (5) at a position before the label detaching edge (6) and the latter is retracted to its initial position, preferably by means of said rotating drive (7) and by pulling off the carrier strip (Ia) in the direction of the device (8) for winding up the carrier strip.
