[origin: EP0248786A2] The cylinder lock has a locking cylinder which is rotatable in a housing and is provided with a profiled key channel and cylinder pins which project into the latter, stand in one position of the locking cylinder on spring-loaded housing pins, and are of conical construction at their other ends. In order to increase security against intrusion in a lock of this type, provision is made for a gap to be present between at least one side wall of the key channel (9) and the outer surfaces of the cylinder pins (7), at least in their end regions facing away from the housing pins (4). By this means, when a probing tool is introduced into the key channel, it slides off into the gap between the cylinder pins and the wall of the key channel, which makes the feeling and pressing-down of the further cylinder pins considerably more difficult, if not impossible. <IMAGE>
