[origin: WO8606116A1] A steam iron comprising a flat sole-plate (2) into which are fused a heating element (5), a tubular element (8) serving as a steam production unit, and a capillary tube sensor (15) in a tube (14). The tubular element (8) comprises, on its underside, drillings (12) which are aligned with drillings (12) in the flat plate (2), and serve as outlets for the vaporized liquid. The heating element (5) and tubular element (8) are arranged in thermal contact with one another. The flat plate (2) is connected with a housing part (3) and a handle (4) in such a way that there is no heat transfer between the flat plate (2) and the housing or handle. A thermostat for regulating the temperature of the flat plate (2) has a capillary tube sensor (15) which leads to a regulator switch unit in the handle.
