For testing cigarettes (11) before their packing, there is arranged in a cigarette magazine (12) a testing unit (17) situated above magazine shafts (13). The testing unit (17) is provided with test shafts (28) for receiving an upright row (26) of cigarettes for testing. Guiding and supporting members (36, 37) are arranged on the underside which effect, by means of relative movements, a standstill phase for the cigarettes in the test shafts (28) and also the delivery of the tested cigarettes. <IMAGE>

Zur Prüfung von Zigaretten (11) vor der Verpackung derselben ist in einem Zigaretten-Magazin (12) eine Prüfeinheit (17) oberhalb von Magazin-Schächten (13) angeordnet. Die Prüfeinheit (17) ist mit Prüfschächten (28) zur Aufnahme einer aufrechten Prüfreihe (26) von Zigaretten versehen. An der Unterseite sind Führungs- und Stützorgane (36, 37) angeordnet, die durch Relativbewegungen eine Stillstandsphase der Zigaretten in den Prüfschächten (28) sowie die Abgabe der geprüften Zigaretten bewirken.
