In the case of a centrifugal pump with an impeller (10), which is located centrically behind an inlet aperture (16) and surrounded by a pump chamber (14) adjoined by a collecting chamber (11), which has an outlet aperture (12), the intake rate, particularly the dry intake, is improved by the fact that the pump chamber (14) is sealed off from the collecting chamber (11) in a radial direction by side walls (17), the side walls (17) having at least one through passage (18) and the entire area of the through passage being between 100 and 200% of the size of the inlet aperture (16). <IMAGE>

Bei einer Zentrifugalpumpe mit einem Pumpenrad (10), das zentrisch hinter einer Eingangsöffnung (16) angeordnet ist, und von einer Pumpenkammer (14) umgeben ist, an die sich ein Sammelraum (11) anschließt, der eine Ausgangsöffnung (12) aufweist, wird eine Verbesserung der Ansaugleistung, insbesondere die Trockenansaugung, dadurch erzielt, daß die Pumpenkammer (14) in radialer Richtung durch Seitenwände (17) gegenüber dem Sammelraum (11) abgeschlossen ist, daß die Seitenwände (17) wenigstens ein Durchtrittsfenster (18) aufweisen, und daß die gesamte Fensterfläche zwischen 100 und 200 % der Größe der Eingangsöffnung (16) liegt.
