The chair has legs (9, 10), a seat (3) and a backrest (4) which is of integral construction with the seat, the legs (9, 10) being constructed as hollow plastic parts, in which metal tubes (17, 18) are received as reinforcement elements. Each leg (9, 10) preferably comprises two plastic halves (14, 15, 11, 12) which have inwardly projecting parts (22, 24) with snap-in edges or teeth (23, 25) which interact with snap-in openings (21) in the metal tubes (17, 18). The inner plastic halves (14, 11) of one front and one rear leg (9 and 10) are advantageously made integrally with an essentially horizontal element (8) which bounds or supports the side edge of the seat, in that the outer plastic halves (15, 12) of the front and/or rear leg (9 and 10) are separately manufactured parts which are snapped onto the tubes as leg caps. It is also advantageous if the chair or armchair has a backrest part (7) which comprises at least one rear wall (36) with two side walls (37) and is attached between the rear legs (10) with the aid of said side walls, the backrest (4), designed as a trough in integral construction with the seat (3), being mounted against the side walls (37) of the rear back piece (36). Stuhl oder Sessel, mit Beinen (9, l0), einem Sitz (3) und einer mit dem Sitz einstückig ausgebildeten Rückenlehne (4), wobei die Beine (9, l0) als Kunststoffhohlteile ausgebildet sind, in denen als Versteifungselemente Metallrohre (l7, l8) aufgenommen sind. Vorzugsweise umfasst jedes Bein (9, l0) zwei Kunststoffhälften (l4, l5, ll, l2) die nach innen ragende Teile (22, 24) mit Schnapprändern oder -Zähnen (23, 25) aufweisen, welche mit Schnappöffnungen (2l) in den Metallrohren (l7, l8) zusammenwirken. Es ist vorteilhaft dass die inneren Kunststofhälften (l4, ll) eines vorderen und eines hinteren Beines (9 bzw. l0) mit einem im wesentlichen waagerechten, die Seitenkante des Sitzesbegrenzenden oder unterstützenden Element (8) einstückig hergestellt sind, indem die äusseren Kunststoffhälften (l5, l2) des vorderen und/oder hinteren Beines (9, bzw. l0) gesondert hergestellte Teile sind, die als Beinkappen auf die Rohre geschnappt werden. Auch ist es vorteilhaft wenn der Stuhl oder Sessel ein Rückenlehnenteil (7) aufweist, das wenigstens eine Rückwand (36) mit zwei Seitenwänden (37) umfa sst und dass mit Hilfe dieser Seitenwände zwischen den hinteren Beinen (l0) befestigt ist, wobei die mit dem Sitz (3) einstückig als Wanne ausgeführte Rückenlehne (4) gegen die Seitenwände (37) des Hinterrückenstückes (36) angebracht ist. Schliesslich ist vorzugsweis die Wanne (3, 4) als ein Kunststoffteil ausgebildet, das mit einer Polsterung versehen ist.
