In a chair-like sitting device (1), having a seat (2) and a backrest, the rest body (3) forming the backrest is held by a swivel arm (4) which projects on one side of the seat (2) and holds the rest body (3) with spacing from the seat (2). The swivel arm (4) can be swivelled forwards and downwards about a swivel axle (6) extending parallel to the front edge (5) of the seat. During the swivel movement, the rest body (3) is guided around the front edge (5) of the seat and passes into a position arranged in front of and below the seat (2), in which position it forms a rest for the lower legs of the seated person which extend through the gap between the rest body and the front edge (5) of the seat. <IMAGE>

Bei einer stuhlartigen Sitzvorrichtung (1) mit einem Sitz (2) und einer Rückenlehne wird der die Rückenlehne bildende Lehnenkörper (3) von einem Schwenkarm (4) gehalten, der an einer Seite des Sitzes (2) hochsteht und den Lehnenkörper (3) mit Abstand zum Sitz (2) hält. Der Schwenkarm (4) ist um eine parallel zur Sitz-Vorderkante (5) verlaufende Schwenkachse (6) nach vorne unten verschwenkbar. Bei der Schwenkbewegung wird der Lehnenkörper (3) um die Sitz-Vorderkante (5) herumgeführt und gelangt in eine vor dem Sitz (2) und unterhalb von diesem angeordnete Stellung, in der er eine Anlage für die durch den Zwischenraum zwischen ihm und der Sitz-Vorderkante (5) hindurchgreifenden Unterschenkel der sitzenden Person bildet.
