[origin: EP0252274A2] In a chair-like sitting device (1), having a seat (2) and a backrest, the rest body (3) forming the backrest is held by a swivel arm (4) which projects on one side of the seat (2) and holds the rest body (3) with spacing from the seat (2). The swivel arm (4) can be swivelled forwards and downwards about a swivel axle (6) extending parallel to the front edge (5) of the seat. During the swivel movement, the rest body (3) is guided around the front edge (5) of the seat and passes into a position arranged in front of and below the seat (2), in which position it forms a rest for the lower legs of the seated person which extend through the gap between the rest body and the front edge (5) of the seat. <IMAGE>
