[origin: US4781248A] A heat exchanger comprising plates rotated by 180 DEG relative to one another and fastened into a stack is disclosed, in which the interstices between plates are supplied with the media via inlet and outlet openings at the corners of the plates and abut one another via projections from their profile, the profile including a middle, rectangular heat exchange zone and two adjoining triangular heat exchange zones. The profile of the triangular zones is formed by sections adjoining one another and having opposite embossing directions to form adjoining peaks and valleys, such that the sections of one embossing direction of one triangular zone abut the sections of the other embossing direction of the adjoining plates that are rotated by 180 DEG relative to the first, and between the rows of peaks and valleys are disposed flow channels connecting the plate openings with the rectangular heat exchange zone, the flow channels being adapted for communication with one another normal to the flow direction, by passage through the spacing of adjacent rays via channel segments.
