[origin: US4819892A] A yarn carrier for winding a filamentary thread having a cylindrical barrel with conical ends and two annular grooves on the inside of the barrel conical end, and a take-up ring disposed for coaxial displacement on one of the ends. The inside surface of the take-up ring is provided with an annular detent adapted to snap into one of the two grooves.

An einem bikonischen Garnträger ist an der Stirnseite (3) ein koaxial verschiebbarer Aufnahmering (4) angeordnet. Zum Anlegen einer Fadenreserve und zur Wicklung wird der Aufnahmering (4) aus einer ersten Position (B) über den Rand des Garnträgers hinaus verschoben; zum Transport und zur Lagerung der Spule wird der Aufnahmering (4) teilweise in die Hülse (1) soweit eingeschoben, dass er über die Peripherie der Stirnseite (2) hinausragt. Der erfindungsgemässe Garnträger ist besonders zum Aufwickeln von Monofilen mit hohen Geschwindigkeiten geeignet.
