Abstract (en)

[origin: WO8704103A1] For clamping a workpiece (31) to a support surface (32) of, for example, a device plate (15), a manual clamp device with a clamping element (1) and a support element (3) is used, said support element being provided with a top portion (3a) and a support portion, in particular in the form of a threaded bolt (3b). The clamping element (1) is so located in an opening (2) of the top portion (3a), said opening being roughly parallel to the top surface (31a) of the workpiece, that it can effect pivoting and sliding movements and can largely fill the opening in the region of its greatest height. At the contact point (4) the clamping element (1) is convexly supported in the opening (2), presses at the clamping point (19) with its clamping lug (5) on the workpiece (31) and is pivoted counter-clockwise by a clamping screw (8) engaging in its rear end. To guide the clamping element (1) a guide element roughly in the form of a rod-shaped spring is provided, which is supported below on the threaded bolt (3b), engages in a longitudinal slot (12) of the clamping element (1) and the upper end of which forms, as applicable, an elastic stop (56) in relation to the workpiece (31). This device, composed of few parts, is designed to be extremely compact and simple and can be used in many applications in view of its large power transfer capacity.
