Dwelling unit comprising a parallelepipedic structure (10) having a floor (12), a ceiling (14) and four side walls (16, 18, 20, 22). At least one of these side walls can be folded down by pivoting, relative to the floor, between a closed vertical position and an open horizontal position in which the said wall forms the floor of an annexed room situated outside the parallelepipedic structure. Unité d'habitation comprenant une structure parallélépipédique (10) comportant un plancher (12), un plafond (14) et quatre parois latérales (16, 18, 20, 22). L'une au moins de ces parois latérales est rabattable par pivotement, par rapport au plancher, entre une position verticale fermée et une position horizontale ouverte où ladite paroi forme le plancher d'une pièce annexe située à l'extérieur de la structure parallélépipédique. Cette structure est avantageusement constituée par un conteneur de dimensions normalisées.
