[origin: US4811762A] A weft yarn store for a loom comprises a drum adapted to receive a weft yarn supply, a winder for winding weft yarn on the drum and means for retaining the weft yarn at the runoff end of the drum upon the completion of picking. A retaining element of the retaining means is adjustable by means of a controllable drive in the peripheral direction of the drum. When this element moves together with the running-off yarn during the braking thereof, the yarn can be retained smoothly. The weft yarn can therefore be metered accurately and smoothly.

In einem Schussfadenspeicher für eine Webmaschine mit einer Trommel (l3) zur Aufnahme eines Vorrates an Schussfaden und mit einem Wickler (l4) ist eine Einrichtung (l6) zum Festhalten des Schussfadens (2) am ablaufseitigen Ende der Trommel (l3) bei Beendigung des Schusseintrages in die Webmaschine angeordnet, wobei ein Festhalteorgan (l62) der Einrichtung (l6) in Umfangsrichtung der Trommel (l3) während des Betriebes mittels eines steuerbaren Antriebes (l60,l70) verstellbar ist. Wenn das Festhalteorgan (l62) während des Abbremsvorganges des ablaufenden Fadens mit diesem mitbewegt wird, kann er ruckfrei festgehalten werden. Auf diese Weise ist eine exakte und schonende Zumessung des Schussfadens möglich.
