[origin: WO8704457A1] Population of cells carrying the phenotype T4 of T4 lymphocytes, characterized in that the population is essentially comprised of T4X lymphocytes having a fixation site specific of LAV virus and in that it is free of T4Y lymphocytes and apparently has no receiver for said virus. The invention also relates to a process for obtaining said T4X cells by separation of the latter from the rest of T4Y cells. Additionally, the invention discloses an $i(in vitro) diagnostic for the discrimination between asymptomatic carriers of anti-LAV antibodies and persons presenting syndromes of lymphadenopathies (SLA) or affected by para-AIDS or AIDS and, in the case of positive response, the process of the invention makes it possible to follow the evolution of the infection produced by LAV virus. The populations of T4X lymphocytes, and more particularly those belonging to permanent cell lines, are applicable to the production of LAV virus.

Population de cellules portant le phénotype T4 des lymphocytes T4, caractérisée en ce qu'elle est constituée essentiellement par des lymphocytes T4X possédant un site de fixation spécifique du virus LAV et en ce qu'elle est exempte de lymphocytes T4Y et ne possédant apparemment pas de récepteur pour ce virus. L'invention concerne aussi un procédé d'obtention de ces cellules T4X par séparation de ces dernières du reste des cellules T4Y. En outre l'invention concerne un diagnostic in vitro permettant la discrimination entre porteurs asymptomatiques d'anticorps anti-LAV et personnes présentant des syndromes de lymphadénopathies (SLA) ou atteintes de para-SIDA ou de SIDA et, en cas de réponse positive, le procédé de l'invention permet le suivi de l'évolution de l'infection produite par le virus LAV. Enfin les populations de lymphocytes T4X, et plus particulièrement celles appartenant à des lignées permanentes, sont applicables à la production du virus LAV.
