[origin: EP0254829A2] The safety ski binding has a sole plate which can be swivelled, but not lifted off, the sole plate being held in the rear region in the skiing position by a locking member which can be moved counter to the force of a spring and engages in a holding member. The bearing of the sole plate on a pivot allows a slight displacement in the vertical direction. <??>The sole plate (20) is provided on its portion (20e) extending between the pivot (6) and the heel holder (30) with a guide element (20d), the bent end region (20f) of which projects into a receiving position (5f) of a mounting plate (5) which is fixed to the ski. <??>The front region of the sole plate (20), bearing the front jaw (25), is coupled to a guide plate (4), the latter being guided so as to be displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the ski, but not liftable in the vertical direction, in guide rails (3a), which are fixed to the ski, of a baseplate (3). <IMAGE>
