[origin: EP0255578A2] A projectile cartridge for shooting irritant gas, smoke or smoke bodies is shown. The cartridge exhibits in its interior at least one solid body, the active substance of which generates the irritant or the like after being ignited. The solid body (or several solid bodies) is exclusively fabricated of the active substance. During the burning- down, the solid body becomes hot, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, its strength is reduced by such an amount that it crumbles apart when touched. In this manner, the solid body cannot be thrown back to the firing base. <IMAGE>
