[origin: WO8704603A1] An umbrella provided with a canopy (opened umbrella canopy), a staff (coaxial umbrella staff) and each of a series of generally radially extending chord-like members (radial chords) connected at one end to the canopy margin and at the opposite end to a latchable ring and tube assembly slidably mounted, coaxially, with the staff. The chords and canopy form structural triangles under tension when the umbrella is in open position.

Un parapluie comprend une calotte (calotte ouverte de parapluie), un manche (manche coaxial de parapluie) et une série d'éléments radiaux semblables à des cordes (cordes radiales) reliés par une extrémité au bord de la calotte et par l'extrémité opposée à un ensemble de tube et d'anneau verrouillable coaxialement monté sur le manche de façon à glisser sur celui-ci. Les cordes et la calotte forment des triangles structuraux sous tension lorsque le parapluie est ouvert.
