A tool holder (1) for the releasable fastening of a tool or tool pieces (2) in alignment with one another for a folding machine, the tool or tool pieces (2) in the tool holder (1) being adapted to be tightened, particularly pneumatically or hydraulically, through a pressure mechanism (3) by means of a thrust piece (4) and to be mechanically secured by at least one holding element (9) engaging in a groove (8) of the tool or tool piece (2), characterized in that the holding element (9) is arranged at the tool or tool piece (2) on the side opposite the thrust piece (4) hence so as to be averted from and independent of the pressure mechanism (3) and that the holding element (9) has a tension pin (11) which runs at right angles to the tool or tool piece (2) and to the laterally arranged groove (8) of said tool or tool piece and is retractable in its longitudinal expanse against the force of a spring (10).
