The force of bending cylinders is transferred to the working roll fittings, guided displaceably in the axial direction and vertically. To provide a robust, operationally reliable bending and balancing device which transfers the bending and displacing forces to the working roll fittings (4, 5) without any tilting moment and with acceptable friction between guiding surfaces, the working roll fittings (4, 5) are supported on both sides each by one sliding surface (25, 27), arranged midway up on a guiding shoulder (24, 26) of a lower and upper lifting housing (14 and 15 respectively), guided vertically on the guide block (12, 13). Each lifting housing (14, 15) is also assigned guiding surfaces (21a, 18a) on a level with what is respectively the other lifting housing (15 or 14). <IMAGE>
