1. Device for producing a gas mixture containing fuel vapour and water vapour which is combustible after the addition of combustion air, with an evaporator (6) for the liquid fuel downstream of which is a mixing chamber (3) for producing the combustible gas mixture and a combustion chamber (2), the evaporator (6) consisting of a first region (7) with a water-vapour generator in the form of a coiled tube and a second region (8) with a fuel evaporator which is co-axial with the water-vapour generator, formed as a coiled tube and has a fuel supply line, and a preheating chamber (15) for combustion air, characterized in that the preheating chamber (15) has a combustion air supply line (16) to the mixing chamber (3), in that the evaporator (6) is located in the exhaust gas duct of the combustion chamber (2), in that the second region (8) of the evaporator (6) is downstream of the first region (7), and in that a fuel-vapour/water-vapour line (12) leads from the second region (8) to the mixing chamber (3).

Zur Erzeugung eines brennbaren Gasgemisches wird zunächst flüssiger Brennstoff zusammen mit Wasser zur Verdampfung gebracht. Mit dem Brennstoff verdampft eine Wassermenge, die ein mehrfaches der Brennstoffmenge beträgt. Bevorzugt wird etwa die 3 bis 4fache Wassermenge zugegeben und der Brennstoff in überhitzten Wasserdampf verdampft. In das erzeugte Brennstoff/Wasserdampf-Gemisch wird Verbrennungsluft eingeführt. Die Vorrichtung enthält einen Verdampfer (6) für Wasser und Brennstoff, eine nachgeschaltete Mischkammer (3), eine Verbrennungsluftzuführung (16) zur Mischkammer und eine Brennkammer (2) zur Verbrennung des erzeugten Gasgemisches.
