[origin: EP0256987A2] A blanket or corresponding piece of material is provided on its longitudinal or broad sides with in each case one incision (102) or preferably with two incisions (3, 4) which are of different lengths and can be closed. Auxiliary pieces of material (5) with closure elements are attached below the folded-open incision edges of the main incision (3). The associated partner elements are situated on two narrower pieces of auxiliary material (6, 7) which are attached at an angle below the upper corners on the inside of the blanket. When these closure elements are joined together, the top part is connected to the bottom part at the front. By opening the shorter additional incisions (4) freely movable sleeves are formed and a complete item of clothing, e.g. coat, jacket or dressing gown is produced. The minimal quantity of material required for an item of clothing of this type and the possible reconversion to a blanket at any time provide a lightweight and space-saving item of luggage for journeys and emergency situations. <IMAGE>
