Abstract (en)
The mechanical grinding and/or polishing of a glass surface (1) is advantageously effected with the aid of a frustoconical or toroidal grinding wheel (4) provided with an annular band (3) of abrasive material mounted off-centred with respect to an axis of rotation (5) of the grinding wheel (4). The axis (5) is inclined with respect to an axis of rotation (2) of the surface (1) to be treated, so as to apply the said grinding wheel (4) along a contact generatrix (7) against the surface (1) to be polished under a specified pressure (Figure 1). <IMAGE>

Le meulage et/ou le polissage mécanique d'une surface (1) en verre s'effectue avantageusement à l'aide d'une meule (4) tronconique ou torique, garnie d'un bandeau annulaire (3) de matière abrasive montée de manière excentrée par rapport à un axe de rotation (5) de la meule (4). L'axe (5) est incliné par rapport à un axe de rotation (2) de la surface (1) à traiter de manière à appliquer ladite meule (4) le long d'une génératrice de contact (7) contre la surface (1) à polir sous une pression déterminée (Figure 1).
