Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0257187A2] In the production of books, turning devices are required in order to turn one of the two books in the case of a divided double copy so that, when they have left the turning station, the books assume the same position in each case and can then subsequently be fed to a triple-blade cutting machine. Depending on how the books of the divided double copy are disposed, in each case the one book must be turned in a different direction of rotation whereas the other book in each case is transported further by a transport belt without turning. The turning device has on both sides of the central transport belt a separate turning station which can carry out a turn in the opposite direction in each case. By moving the turning station transversely to the transport direction, one of the two turning stations can thus become active in each case, by which means it is possible, in the case of the divided double copy occurring in practice, to carry out the desired turning operation of one book in each case. <IMAGE>
