[origin: EP0257551A1] The contact elements for the connection of individual wires guided in an ordered manner side by side project with a box-shaped U-profile into wire channels on the wire connection side of the connector. Side walls of the U-profile aligned at right angles to the channels are each provided with a contacting slot. The contact elements are supported on walls bounding the channels on the sides, in the region of the wire channels, by means of a lateral wall of the U-profile and angled sections of the side walls. A cover which can be latched onto the connecting side projects into the channels with ribs. This arrangement produces a wire connection which can even withstand rough operating conditions. <IMAGE>
