[origin: US4794493A] The invention provides a motor vehicle main beam and dipped beam headlight of the type comprising: a lamp provided with a transverse horizontal dipped beam filament (10a) and a transverse horizontal main beam filament (10b), said filaments being offset relative to each other in two directions perpendicular to the axis of the headlight; a reflector (20) whose axis (Ox) passes between the two filaments; and a closure glass (30) including members for deflecting the dipped beam and the main beam sideways; the headlight being arranged so that the dipped beam is situated beneath a cutoff (Hh) whose orientation is generally horizontal. According to the invention the surface of the reflector is a surface without discontinuity forming shallow images of the dipped beam filament and of the main beam filament, with all of the points in the images of the dipped beam filament additionally being situated beneath said horizontal cutoff (Hh). The invention is applicable to making main beam and dipped beam headlights that satisfy the requirements of the regulations in force in the United States of America.

L'invention concerne un projecteur croisementroute pour véhicule automobile, du type comprenant une lampe munie d'un filament de croisement et d'un filament de route horizontaux transversaux (10a, 10b), les deux filaments étant décalés l'un par rapport à l'autre suivant deux directions perpendiculaires à l'axe du projecteur, un réflecteur (20) dont l'axe (Ox) pass entre les deux filaments et une glace de fermeture (30) comportant des éléments de déviation latérale des faisceaux de croisement et de route, et agencé pour que le faisceau de croisement soit situé au-dessous d'une coupure d'orientation générale horizontale (Hh). Selon l'invention, la surface du réflecteur est une surface sans discontinuité formant des images de faible hauteur du filament de croisement et du filament de route, tous les points des images du filament de croisement étant par ailleurs situés au-dessous de ladite coupure horizontale (Hh). Application à la réalisation de projecteurs croisement-route adaptés aux règlements en vigueur aux Etats-Unis d'Amérique.
