[origin: WO8704065A1] A protective earmuff which transmits normal sound levels and clips higher amplitude sound levels by causing an amplifier (117) to go into saturation when the input signal is greater than a preset amount. The sound is received by a microphone (40), amplified and transmitted to the ear of the user by a speaker (36). The output of volume level (44) is controllable independently of the clipping level. Also disclosed is a circuit allowing user control of both the clipping level and the volume level independently.

Un casque de protection auriculaire transmet des niveaux de sons normaux et écrête des niveaux de sons d'amplitude plus élevée en faisant entrer un amplificateur (117) en phase de saturation lorsque le signal d'entrée est supérieur à une valeur prédéterminée. Le son est reçu par un microphone (40), amplifié et transmis à l'oreille de l'utilisateur par un haut-parleur (36). La sortie du niveau de volume (44) peut être commandée indépendamment du niveau d'écrêtage. Est également décrit un circuit permettant à l'utilisateur de commander indépendamment le niveau d'écrêtage et le niveau du volume.
