When voltage is applied to the piezoelectric transformer (17 resp. 18), the latter becomes an actuating element which overcomes a force that retains the piston (2) in its end-of-stroke position and drives the piston (2) away from the position where it seals the inlet passage (7 resp. 8) for the medium under pressure.
