[origin: WO8705665A1] A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines is equipped with a reciprocating pump piston (3) and a distributor (5) slidable thereon with a control drilling (28) which cooperates with an oblique groove (15) on the pump piston (3) which is linked via a passage (24, 25) with the working chamber (26) of the pump. To control the initiation of pumping the oblique groove (15) is linked with a cylindrical depression (21) at its end region (22) located at a distance from the pump working chamber. In addition, in the case of relatively shallow oblique grooves (15) the pump working chamber can be linked in the region of the end (23) of the control groove (15) with a second depression in order to ensure that zero delivery is achieved.
