[origin: WO8705027A1] Y-specific DNA which can be used as probes to establish unambiguously the presence or absence of regions of the normal Y chromosome in DNA from a subject, as is a method for the use of such probes. The Y DNA sequences can be used to determine whether homologous sequences are present in an individual's genome or not; to detect the presence or absence of specific portions of the Y chromosome in genomic DNA; and/or to determine the location of genes of interest on the Y chromosome.

La présente invention se rapporte à l'ADN spécifique du chromosome Y, qui peut être utilisée comme sondes afin d'établir sans ambiguité la présence ou l'absence de régions du chromosome Y dans l'ADN d'un individu, et à un procédé d'utilisation desdites sondes. Les séquences de l'ADN du chromosome Y peuvent être utilisées: afin de déterminer si il y a présence ou non de séquences homologues dans un génome d'un individu, afin de détecter la présence ou l'absence de parties spécifiques du chromosome Y dans l'ADN génomique, et/ou afin de déterminer l'emplacement de gènes d'intérêt sur le chromosome Y.
