[origin: WO8705650A1] A building panel composed of a core (7) of foamed or expanded polymer, a relatively dense and rigid skin (6) of that polymer forming one broad surface of the panel, and a rigid sheet (3) of a different forming the opposite broad surface. The core (7) and the skin (6) are formed integral and the skin is continued to extend across the edges of the panel. Sections of timber, for example, can be encapsulated within the panel for strengthening purposes, particularly at the edges of the panel, and to provide a firm base for receiving fastening devices. A plurality of panels can be connected edge to edge through a tongue and groove connection. The panel is formed by a moulding process and the different densities of the core and the skin respectively is achieved by modifying the polymer in the course of that process.
