Device for actuating a security lock with a movable bolt (2) manoeuvred by two handles (3, 4) intended to be arranged on either side of a door (5) and turning on separate substantially parallel shafts between a closed position and an open position, this device comprising a release mechanism (6) intended to be mounted between these handles and an electrical system enabling this mechanism to be brought either into a released state or into an engaged state, the first handle being capable of cooperating with this latter through the intermediary of the release mechanism, characterised in that the release mechanism comprises a first transmission element (7) which can be actuated by the first handle (3) following a rotational movement about its aforesaid shaft, a second transmission element (10) turning with this second handle (4) about the aforesaid shaft of the latter, a connecting rod (13) connecting the two transmission elements at locations situated outside the axes of rotation of these latter, and means controlled by the electrical system in order, on the one hand, to create with the connecting rod, in the aforesaid engaged state, a rigid connection between the two transmission elements when the said second transmission element is displaced at an angle in at least one given direction about the axis of rotation of the latter in such a way that the first transmission element is also subjected to angular displacement, and, on the other hand, in the aforesaid released state, to break this rigid connection so as to free the second transmission element at least partially with respect to the first and thus to permit angular displacement of the second element substantially independently of the first element.
