Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0262281A1] 1. A process for the production of cylindrical pipes with a yield strength of >750 N/mm**2 for use at temperatures of down to -40 degrees C, in which a blank pipe made of steel and containing 0.02-0.1% carbon, 0.005-0.25% silicon, 1.5-2.0% manganese, 2-4% nickel, 0.03-0.06% niobium and iron with the usual impurities is produced by hot working and cooling to room temperature in air, characterised in that the blank is normalised by heat treatment at 900-950 degrees C, is cooled to room temperature and is cold worked to the final dimensions in the temperature range of from room temperature to 100 degrees, leading to cross-sectional reductions of about 15-80%.
