Cylindrical rotary furnace for the degasification and incineration of waste material, the degasification taking place in a pyrolysis drum, which comprises a feed opening for the waste material, to which a low-temperature carbonisation gas outlet is connected and the incineration taking place in a combustion drum mounted in a rotary manner, which at the feed end comprises a waste gas outlet and at the discharge end for the ashes comprises a burner, characterised in that a) the pyrolysis drum (2) is located inside the combustion drum (1) and connected thereto in a non-rotary manner, which drum forms an annular chamber (27) between itself and the combustion drum and which, starting from the feed end, extends in the direction of the discharge end over a partial length of the combustion drum (1), b) at its end projecting into the combustion drum (1), the pyrolysis drum (2) comprises a discharge opening (16) for low-temperature coke formed from the waste material, which is burnt to ashes in the adjoining combustion chamber (15) of the combustion drum (1), and c) the annular chamber (27) between the combustion drum (1) and the pyrolysis drum (2) is connected to the waste gas outlet (7).
