[origin: EP0262658A2] A two-wire signal transmission system is devised, whereat a transmitter (3), a receiver (4) and a communicator are connected to said two-wire transmission line (l1, l2). The communicator (8) communicates with the transmitter (3) and said transmitter comprises means for receiving a digital command signal from said communicator through said two-wire transmission line and first control means for sending out a response signal in response to the command signal upon reception thereof. The receiver (4) comprises time-defining means for discriminating that a nonsignalling state of said transmission line has continued for a predetermined period of time and second control means for validating a specific period of reception signal received after the discrimination operation of said time defining means.
