[origin: WO8705073A1] A two-stroke cycle internal combustion engine having two co-axial cylinders (16, 17) separated by a transverse division wall (18) with a piston (20, 21) in each cylinder (16, 17) rigidly coupled by a rod (22) extending through the division wall (18) in sliding sealed relation. The lower piston (21) is coupled by a connecting rod (25) to a crankshaft (13). The upper piston (20) forms a combustion chamber (60) there-above and a first compressor chamber (16a) therebelow, and the lower piston (21) forms a second compressor chamber (17a) there-above. Each of the compressor chambers (16a, 17a) having a valve controlled inlet port (40, 41) to admit ambient air when the pressure in the chamber is below atmospheric, and a valve controlled port (32) is provided to communicate the two compressor chambers (16a, 17a) when the pressure in the second chamber (17a) is above the pressure in the first chamber (16a). The first compressor chamber (16a) supplying compressed air to the combustion chamber (60) in timed relation to the engine cycle.

Un moteur à combustion interne avec cycle à deux temps comprend deux cylindres coaxiaux (6, 17) séparés par une paroi de séparation transversale (18) et deux cylindres (16, 17) contenant chacun un piston (20, 21), ces deux pistons étant rigidement reliés par une bielle (22) s'étendant par coulissement et de façon étanche à travers la parois de séparation (18). Le piston inférieur (21) est relié par une bielle (25) à un vilebrequin (13). Le piston supérieur (20) forme une chambre de combustion (60) au-dessus de lui et une première chambre de compression (16a) au-dessous de lui et le piston inférieur (21) forme une seconde chambre de compression (17a) au-dessus de lui. Chacune des chambres de compression (16a, 17a) comporte un orifice d'admission (40, 41) régulé par soupape, destiné à laisser entrer l'air ambiant, lorsque la pression dans la chambre est inférieure à la pression atmosphérique, un orifice (32) commandé par soupape établissant une communication entre les deux chambres de compression (16a, 17a), lorsque la pression dans la seconde chambre (17a) est supérieure à la pression dans la première chambre (16a). La première chambre de compression (16a) fournit de l'air comprimé à la chambre de combustion (60) en syncrhonisme avec le cycle du moteur.
