In order to be able to change a doctor blade whilst the web 1 is being transported with as little waste as possible, two doctor blade units 10, 12, 14; 11, 13, 15 are positioned immediately one behind the other behind an applying mechanism 4 and are alternately brought into the operating position in such a way that the one doctor blade unit 10, 12, 14 in the working position is only brought into the neutral position once the other doctor blade unit 11, 13, 15 in the neutral position is in the working position. <IMAGE>

Hinter einem Auftragswerk sind 4 zwei Rakeleinheiten 10,12,14; 11,13,15 unmittelbar hintereinander angeordnet und werden wechselweise derart in Arbeitsstellung gebracht, daß die in Arbeitsstellung befindliche eine Rakeleinheit 10,12,14 erst in Ruhestellung gebracht wird, wenn die in Ruhestellung befindliche andere Rakeleinheit 11,13,15 sich in Arbeitsstellung befindet.
