[origin: WO8706277A1] The opening cylinder has a cylindrical part (1), the covering surface of which is provided with teeth (2) arranged in parallel rows, each row being firmly attached to a comb strip (10) and, together with the latter, is housed in an appropriate groove (9) opening on to the covering surface. To improve opening while ensuring a simple design of the opening cylinder, and to reduce the number of faults in yarn spun by the open-end process, the comb strips (10) uniformly project beyond the covering surface of the cylindrical part (1).
