Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0265344A1] The method is especially suitable for piling on the seabed and consists of the following steps: > &cirf& (a) The lower end of a pipe (15) containing a drilling machine (1) equipped with cutters (6, 7) is brought into contact with the ground. The cutters can be moved from an initial position where their transverse dimension is less than the inner diameter of the pipe to a second position in which their transverse dimension is greater than the outer diameter of the pipe. &cirf& (b) At a predetermined depth, drilling is carried out in a downward direction with the cutters in their initial position. &cirf& (c) The cutters are moved into their second position. &cirf& (d) A washover is carried out in an upward direction with the cutters in their second position. &cirf& (e) The cutters are returned to their initial position and the machine is retracted into the pipe. &cirf& (f) The pipe is lowered into the hole made in this way. <IMAGE>
