[origin: EP0266286A2] The device consists of stationary reserve weft bobbins (15) and two lances (5) and (7) moving by oscillations from both sides of the cloth and penetrating the shed at roughly the same distance. When the lances have advanced to about the middle of the shed, the weft (54) is sent in the form of a single or multiple thread by a head, usually known as the input head (6), mounted at the end of the lance (5) to the corresponding head, usually known as the output head (8), of the other lance (7). The heads consist of small prongs (24) and (25) gripping the weft thread, and are actuated positively by mechanisms inside the head so as to grip and then release the weft thread. <IMAGE>
