[origin: EP0267589A2] A method and an apparatus for straightening weft yarns in fabrics are described. In these, a continuous fabric web is tensioned over a specific length portion with a force increasing in the direction of run, essentially in the weft direction, between two tensioning drums which are located at the edge and which are moveable independently of one another in such a way that differing forces occurring during a skewed draft and exerted in the direction of run on the tensioning means can be compensated so that the draft is eliminated. It is proposed to tension the fabric web within the length portion in a plurality of individual portions and to set the respective tensions within the individual portions independently of one another. <IMAGE>
