Abstract (en)
An overbase complex of calcium carbonate associated with the calcium salt of a sulfonic acid is used as an antifoulant in oil, gas and petrochemical refining processes. The invention provides a method of inhibiting fouling in an oil refining process which comprises adding to fouling areas in said process other than the crude unit and visbreaker an effective fouling inhibiting amount of an antifoulant composition comprising an overbase complex of calcium carbonate and a calcium salt of a sulfonic acid complexing agent.
