[origin: EP0268550A1] A device for tensioning a yarn fed to a textile machine possesses a yarn-deflecting element (36) which acts transversely to the yarn run and by means of which as constant a yarn tension of the yarn (2) as possible should be achieved in the textile machine in spite of pronounced consumption fluctuations. The deflecting element used is a low-mass lamella (36) which can be deflected by a force field effective transversely to the direction of run of the yarn. The force field can be applied by an air jet or, for example, electromagnetic or electrostatic means. The arrangement guarantees a very rapid reaction of the yarn tension device to variations during the yarn run, with the result that the tension fluctuations in the yarn behind the yarn tension device remain only slight. <IMAGE>
