Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0268750A1] 1. A longitudinally adjustable coupling for rods or bars or the like, more particularly for positioning bar fittings for doors or windows or the like, a U section coupling shoe (3) being provided at the end of one (2) of two rods or bars or the like (2, 6) required to be coupled together, the shoe (3) being in the form of a flexible stamping and having on the inside of at least one arm (4) fine toothing (5) contrived during manufacture, while the other rod or bar or the like (6) has at least on the narrow side intended for coupling complementary fine toothing (7) which extends over a considerable length and which enables the rod or bar or the like (6) to be engaged between the arms (4) of the shoe (3), the fine toothing (5) of the shoe (3), which is unitary with the rod or bar or the like (2), being formed by die stamping, characterised in that the rod cross-section decreases (9) in thickness (10) near the shoe (3) and is correspondingly increased (18) in width (13), the profile (15, 16) of the fine toothing (5) extends transversely over the whole width (14) of the reduced-thickness part (11) of the rod or bar or the like, and the side panels (18) of the reduced-thickness part (11) of the rod or bar or the like, such panels extending beyond the width (13) of the normal cross-section of the rod or bar or the like, are raised at least substantially by 90 degrees relatively to the plane of the rod or bar or the like.
