This device is of the type comprising a self-locking gas spring (8, 28) associated with each movable element (4, 5) of the chair or bed and arranged so as to permit, via its elongation, lifting of this movable element; each gas spring (8, 28) has an associated weight, respectively (16, 41), acting in opposition to said spring and capable of being displaced so as to compensate, at rest, the force of the gas spring (8, 28) relative to the weight of the person supported by this movable element (4, 5). This device may be used by any able-bodied or handicapped person without requiring any effort on the part thereof and without assistance from a third person. <IMAGE>

Ce dispositif est du type comprenant un ressort à gaz autobloquant (8,28) associé à chaque élément mobile (4,5) du siège ou lit et disposé de façon à permettre par son allongement le relevage de cet élément mobile; selon l'invention, à chaque ressort à gaz (8,28) est associée une masse resp. (16,41) agissant en antagonisme de celui-ci et apte à être déplacée de façon à compenser au repos l'effort du ressort à gaz (8,28) par rapport au poids de la personne en appui sur cet élément mobile (4,5). Ce dispositif peut être utilisé par toute personne valide cu non sans nécessiter aucun effort de sa part et, sans l'assistance d'une tierce personne.
