[origin: EP0269530A1] The disconnection chamber of the switch is divided into two parts (38, 40) by a quasi-sealed partition (36) containing openings the area of which forms 1 to 8 % of the total area of the partition. The gases pass by diffusion from the first part, constituting the arc-forming chamber (38), to the second part (40) constituting a quasi-sealed chamber for cooling the gases, without communicating with the outside. <IMAGE>
