Une chaussure ou une botte est pourvue d'un corps de semelle (4) munie d'une pluralité d'évidements (12) remplis de corps de stockage (13). Ces corps (13) contiennent du kérosène, dont le point de fusion est inférieur à la température du pied, et forment un réservoir de chaleur latente (14). De plus, un élément chauffant à feuille (8) est disposé sous la semelle intérieure (7) et peut être alimenté en un courant basse tension par l'intermédiaire de conducteurs électriques (9) et d'une fiche femelle (10).
