[origin: US4828190A] A pivot mechanism for a chuck is to move the chuck between a rest position and a winding position, with the chuck contacting a contact roll in the latter position. The mechanism comprises two parts pivotable between open and closed positions relative to each other, one part carrying the chuck in a gripper. A piston and cylinder device is provided to determine the angular position of the other part relative to the rest position and the winding position.
