[origin: EP0270158A2] A switching device is specified which consists of a switching chamber region whose contact link carrier is coupled to a switching bolt. Inside the contact link carrier (15) there are arranged moving contacts (12, 13) on contact links (18) on which compression springs act. By means of rams (16) arranged in the contact link carriers (15), the contacts (12, 13) can be operated by means of switching devices which can be installed differently, in the sense of a contact opening, while the rams (16) are acted on directly and without delay by trip devices associated with each switching path, while the trip device (4) at the same time acts on the switching bolt (2) and trips its energy store. For switching in use, an electromagnetic drive (3) is provided which acts by means of a lever (31) on all the rams (16) simultaneously and opens all the moving contacts simultaneously. <IMAGE>
